AN OCCASION FOR LIBERALITY AND MODERNIZATION
The Erbil Book Fair is not considered
to be a simple facet of the rise that had started
many years ago to draw the features of the city and
of the radiant spaces in Kurdistan Province, setting
up its identity. It rather overlaps with the
progress that moves from one field to another, in
all direction in order to create new values that
suit the spirit and requirements of this period. It
also helps to expend the development and
modernization that the government of Kurdistan
Province is conducting in Iraq.
The book is as important as the other cultural means
It therefore occupies a leading role in the aims the
government, the civil society organization and all
the political, economic and social events have set.
This defines the role of the fair, by going beyond
all the traditional methods that negatively affect
this free cultural exhibition. It was at the
beginning a tool to spread the cultural values and
to carry a cultural concern, an occasion to freely
exchange the news and opinions and to deepen them
via active participation and interaction. The fair
is therefore far from being a simple market to sell
out books.
The safe Kurdistan within the new Iraq hosts the
book fair for it is considered to be a free cultural
oasis that moves around the word to discover new
things in the intellectual, cultural and scientific
world and to spread it out and to enable other
centers in the countru to create their adequate
structures, until security and stability reign.
The third session of Erbil International Book Fair
is an attempt and a contribution to present the book
fairs in a away and in a modernized content in order
to demonstrate that culture is a basis to any
development and rise. Since the fair will take place
in Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Province in Iraq,
we will appreciate the participation of all the
guests. We will try to make their participation more
than just an introduction of their productions which
will be accessible to the readers, the research
corporations, students, universities and cultural
houses.
This fair will have a particularity supplied by
other events, in an attempt to open up to the
culture. arts, science and intellect.
