The third session of Erbil international book fair will take place in the fair area in Sami Abdul- Rahman Park from Wednesday April 2, 2008 to Friday April 11,2008
 

The fair aims at:

* Giving back consideration to the culture for it's considered to be a movement of awareness and rise in addition to stressing on the function of the book fairs that enable to achieve these goals.
* Making the book fairs an occasion that helps the cultural authorities to regain their role and their effects, whether by publishing or by organizing events to enable the book to move easily in all directions.
* Encouraging the publishers and cultural corporations to expend the publishing and the translation movements in addition to organizing them so they can go along with the progress achieved by other movement in the world. This could be reached by the participation of experts, intellectuals and writers and by establishing the programs and the basis that cover all the changing and developing fields and domains.
* Holding meeting and discussions between the publishers and the readers and among the responsible for the cultural and educational issues in order to exchange everything that leads to the expansion of the reading circle and the publishing movement.
* Achieving cooperation among the publishers and people concerned with culture and books in order to find the resources and define the requirements that will help discover the biggest number of outlets in every Arab country, making it a starting point for a corporation that is responsible for the distribution of books and the other cultural means. This will lead to the expansion of the book distribution basis and the promotion of its role in knowledge and social development.
* Giving a chance to cooperate and communicate between the cultural, intellectual, scientific and creative leaders and the readers, of different tastes and generations.
* Launching the different initiatives including teams, clubs and cultural houses to promote reading.
